Stuart Williams


Stuart Williams studied at University of Tasmania, majoring in furniture design. In 2004 he moved to Perth where he continued to make and design furniture with a focus on lighting. In 2006 he exhibited his lighting design work at the prestigious Milan furniture fair and held his first solo exhibition following in 2007 in Perth WA. In 2008 Stuart featured in a number of group exhibitions in Tasmania, is Vice President of Designed Objects Tasmania, and was profiled as being one of Australia’s top 30 emerging designers.

Stuart's work is about finding a sense of place within the urban landscape, combining new technologies with old traditions. His public furniture commissions include State Library of Tasmania, Baker D. Chirico Bakery, St Kilda and Henry Jones Art Hotel.
